Tech Tips

  • Closed-face Sampling: Use a 2 or 3-piece cassette with plugs removed.
  • Open-face Sampling: Use a 3-piece cassette with inlet section and plugs removed.
  • Respirable Cyclones: Use a 3-piece cassette with inlet section removed and cyclone inserted in middle ring. While clear styrene cassettes are traditionally used, NIOSH now suggests that using static-dissipated (conductive) black polypropylene cassettes are a better option for this application to minimize cassette wall losses (Journal of Occ. And Env. Hygiene, 10:3, 2013, pp. D29-D33).
